Career Goal: Warner Brothers

Why must I be blunt about my career aspirations? Because they are big.

Working for Warner Brothers (WB) is my long-term career goal. I have built my education and experiences to stand out and to qualify for a future role within the company.

I fell in love with the bold storytelling of the studio at young age while watching Animaniacs and Looney Toons, which significantly shaped my sense of humor. I am in awe of WB’s rich history and monumental film legacy. I love how they treat my beloved Harry Potter books and universe. And the ever expanding and inspiring universe of DC Comics is a staple in my life.

I want to be a part of Warner Brothers and would be grateful for the opportunity to be considered for any other role I am qualified for. I have already impressed individuals within the company who agree I would be a great fit and are happy to supply additional references.

“My goal in life is to support good storytelling and good storytellers.”

I learn each time I apply at WB

I have applied to and been down to visit WB multiple times. In 2018 I was able to make some significant connections at WB and DC Comics who thought I would be a great fit for the company and advised me to continue to apply. I was told to either move down to California and keep trying for a position in the company, or find a way to specialize in the industry in Utah, then after a few years experience apply at WB again, I have done the latter.

Specializing In Utah: Film & Entertainment

Since September 2018 I have been producing The Movie Show for KSL Newsradio. It is a weekly entertainment show on Utah’s number one news radio station, that features movie reviews, news, guests and more. Through the show I have been able to hone my producing skills, make great industry contacts, and improve our listeners experience and interactions.

I have created opportunities to increase our show’s presence in the real life for our audience through the Movie Show Club events, Facebook Group, text messages, and more. I led efforts to create events and a program that adds significant value to our listeners, show, and station.

I have honed my voice as an authority of all things fandom. Becoming a frequent contributor to live radio broadcasts, and to the Fan Effect Podcast discussing everything from Joker to Fantastic Beasts. In Fall 2019 I was a special guest at Fanx: Salt Lake Comic Convention on panels discussing my fandoms and moderating one of my own.

I have produced and executive produced special programming for the station from topics ranging political to spiritual. Leading multiple teams to create great content for audiences of hundreds of thousands. I have become a valued member of our team trusted to launch new shows, train new hires, and create significant growth for our teams.

“Politics will not change the world, storytelling will. When we debate, we become more entrenched in our beliefs. When we open ourselves to the story of another we are allowed to be touched by their experiences and reframe our own opinions.’

My unique skill set

I have over a decade of experience in production: theater, publishing, film, radio, events, marketing, and more.

I am a strategic communications specialist who has developed skills in marketing, writing, media creation, production, and management. Using my bachelor’s in strategic communications and associates in mass communications technology, I have sharpened these skills through strategizing social media plans, developing/distributing digital assets, researching and interviewing for written/audio pieces, and produced/directed/edited film/radio for documentary projects, TV segments, and live events.

I have proven myself successful in both the office and creative-collaboration teams.

I am driven by my love of learning and helping others, leading me to have a cheerful, teachable, and informed demeanor. These personality traits and my ability to strategize has proven a key skill for my teamwork success. I am an organized planner who knows how to dissect large projects into manageable pieces on a prioritized timeline, listen for opportunities, solve problems, make choices, and most importantly, I GET THINGS DONE.

“I was once asked by a higher-up at Marvel why I was not applying to work with them. I answered ‘Batman’ and he nodded his head knowingly.”

Sample Podcast: Going Inside the Mind of “JOKER”…Whether We Want To Or Not

  • Joker, perhaps the most iconic comic book villain of all time, has his own movie now… made by director Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix. The movie has drawn both praise and criticism for its grounded portrayal of a character who is an unapologetic, psychopathic murderer in the source material.
